Podium finish leading into Tasmanian Title

In the final hit out before the Tasmanian Sprintcar Title this Friday night, Jamie Bricknell put in a solid performance to finish third on the podium during an incident affected final of the Boxing Night Blitz at Carrick Speedway

After a hole shot win in his first heat, Bricknell climbed three places in the second heat on a difficult track surface, placing him out of position 5 for the final.

"The track was unpredictable" reflects Jamie. "It was rough through the turns , and a lot of cars were bouncing off their line, meaning passing opportunities were limited.  There were a lot of stoppages in all the heats, and most of these were due to passing moves gone wrong, so I figured it was better to start midfield in the final with a straight car, than not start at all."

Starting out of position five, Bricknell quickly gained a position before battling with Ash House for third position for several laps.

"Just like the heats, passing opportunities were scarce, and pretty much restricted to the straights."  commented Jamie.  "Cars were bouncing through the corners, and it was a struggle to hold my line, let alone try to go around someone."

After several restarts due to incidents, Bricknell powered past to take third position, and was gaining ground on second when yet another caution bought a halt to his momentum

"We had the power" says team owner Steve, "but every time he would get a good run, a yellow came out and he had to start again.  With less cautions, I think it would of been a better result for us, but we are happy with the cars performance and looking forward to Friday night."

When asked about the fact sprintcars hadn't raced at Hobart this season prior to their state title, Steve was optimistic about the teams chances.

"We've done a lot of laps around Hobart, and last season Jamie got the QuickTime award during the World Series, so he know his way around.  We'll draw on the set up experience we have gotten over the years and we are confident we'll be competitive straight out of the truck."

The Tasmanian State Title will be held at Mountain Dew Ice Raceway, Hobart, on Friday the 30th of December, from 6pm.
