For
quite some time it has always been a matter of when,
not if, Jamie Bricknell was going to break through for
his maiden Sprintcar feature race victory and last Friday
night (January 9) at Carrick Speedway in Tasmania he
took out his very first feature race victory.
The
usually bashful Bricknell was thrilled to get the feature
race win monkey off his back after he recorded an all
the way victory last Friday night at Carrick Speedway
much to the delight of his supportive team.
After
starting from outside of the front row alongside Adrian
Redpath in the feature race, after being the second
highest qualifier by virtue of a win and a second place
from his two heat races, Bricknell jumped to an immediate
lead and from there he was never headed. Despite some
close attention from Jason Redpath during the middle
stages of the virtually non-stop feature race, Bricknell
was able to get a break on Redpath in amongst lapped
traffic and from there went on to take out a unchallenged
win.
It was
just over a week ago that Bricknell scored his first
feature race podium finish to add to his 2008/09 season
tally and now he has a feature race victory to go with
his list of achievements for the 19-year-old from Launceston
in Tasmania.
On reflection
of his maiden feature race victory as per usual Bricknell
was short but to the point.
“Now
that I have feature race victory No.1 out of the way
I am now looking towards adding a few more before the
season is out,” commented the youngster, who is only
in his second full season of Sprintcars. “The car was
great throughout the night and I couldn’t be more pleased
with how the season has been going. Huge thanks must
go to my entire team for all their ongoing efforts and
support as this win is just as much theirs as it is
mine.”

The
following night (Saturday, January 10) Bricknell returned
to Carrick Speedway still on a high from his feature
race victory at the track the night before and after
starting from position eight in the feature race field
he finished just one spot shy of the podium in fourth.
Bricknell earlier in the night during his opening heat
race didn’t have the best of runs and finished back
in sixth after he had started from the inside of the
second row and during his second heat race he managed
to finish in fourth. Those two heat race results were
only good enough for Bricknell to be the eighth highest
point scorer heading into the feature race.
This
coming Saturday night (January 17) Bricknell is to appear
at Latrobe International Speedway in Tasmania aboard
his # 55 TAS Giraffe Civil Contracting backed Maxim.
