Bricknell on the Podium Once Again in 2008/09 Season                                         10-3-2009

The twin feature race format at Carrick Speedway in Tasmania last Saturday night (March 28) resulted in Jamie Bricknell finishing both Sprintcar feature races in sixth and third place respectively.

In the opening feature race, over a distance of 15 laps, Bricknell started from position 10 and worked his way up to finish in sixth place and then in the second feature race (25 laps) Bricknell started out of position six and on a hooked up track he managed to finish on the podium in third place.

Bricknell’s third place finish during the stoppage riddled second feature race was a commendable result considering that passing opportunities were few and far between on one of the fastest and hooked up tracks ever seen at Carrick Speedway.

“It was hard to build up momentum during the second feature race as there were so many stoppages and third place was a good result considering where I started,” said Bricknell, who had earlier in the night finished his two heat races in third and sixth place. “Both Jason House [winner] and Shaun Dobson [second] started ahead of me for the second feature race and to their credit they drove very well and third place was probably where I deserved to finish. I couldn’t catch them, as the track was just so hooked up.”

Recently, the Bricknell Motorsport team purchased an ex Brooke Tatnell WESMAR 410ci engine from Barry Lewis and is looking forward to it slotting it into their TAS # 55 Giraffe Civil Contracting sponsored Maxim for this Saturday night’s (April 4) race meeting at Latrobe International Speedway in readiness for their trip over to the mainland for the Easter Sprintcar Trail on the Easter Long Weekend.

“Our new engine has more horsepower than our other 410ci engine and I am very much looking forward to using it for the remainder of the season and getting the feel of its full potential,” commented an excited Bricknell.
