A fourth
place feature race finish in his final outing of the
2008/09 season at Carrick Speedway last Saturday has
seen Jamie Bricknell secure a second place finish in
the overall Tasmanian Sprintcar Club Championship point
score behind winner Jason Dawkins.
On a
basically one lane, hooked up Carrick Speedway track,
where passing was kept to a minimum, Bricknell started
from the inside of the second row in the feature race
and fell back to fourth at the start and that was where
he stayed through to the finish.
“There
wasn’t much passing in the feature race as the track
was pretty one lane and that made passing difficult,”
Bricknell explained. “At the beginning of the feature
race the outside row got the run and that left me back
in fourth and I was unable to advance any higher as
the drivers ahead of me didn’t make any mistakes and
drove a pretty good consistent race.”
Bricknell
qualified his TAS # 55 Giraffe Civil Contracting backed
Maxim as the fourth highest point scorer for the feature
race after he finished second and fifth during his two
heat races.
Not
only did Bricknell finish second in the Tasmanian Club
Championship, he also finished in the Carrick Speedway
Sprintcar Track Championship in second place too.
In what
is his second season of Sprintcar racing, Bricknell
has certainly developed into one of the most promising
young drivers going around Australia and there is no
doubt that that reputation was enhanced by his fifth
place finish overall in the recent Easter Trail over
on the mainland.

“I really
enjoyed my two trips over to the mainland as I learned
a lot and will be better off due to those experiences,”
Bricknell said. “One of the highlights of the season
was the Top five result at the Easter Trail and my feature
race win at Carrick Speedway earlier this year and any
other time I have managed to finish on the podium in
a feature race.”
Bricknell
would like to say a big thanks to all his sponsors,
family and friends for all their valued support throughout
the 2008/09 season.
“It
has been a really good season and one that wouldn’t
have been at all possible without the support from all
my sponsors, family, friends and of course all my crew
that consists of crew chief Cash, Nev, Steve, Lovey,
Kyle, Jay, Sam, Nick and Stridey for all his presentation
expertise,” added a very grateful Bricknell.
The
Bricknell Motorsport team will now spend the off season
preparing for next season and securing sponsorship.
