The
2009/10 Sprintcar season in Tasmania may still be just
under four months away but that hasn’t stopped Jamie
Bricknell and his team from getting ready for what they
hope will be a successful season.
In
what will be his third full season in Sprintcars, the
19-year-old from Launceston in Tasmania has been hard
at work with his team in garage preparing for the upcoming
season and he has also been in the gym to help improve
his race fitness.
“I
have been keeping busy either in the garage or the gym
during the off season and I cannot wait for the new
season to come around and my team are just as eager
for it to start too,” Bricknell said. “The gym is something
that I haven’t really focused on in the past, but my
time spent at the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS)
earlier this year in Canberra really opened my eyes
to importance of being both physically and mentally
fit.”
Bricknell
and his team have organised their 2009/10 season schedule
which is basically the same as last season, which will
include all race meetings in his home state of Tasmania
and two trips to the mainland for the Grand Annual Classic
in January and then the Easter Trail in April.
A
brand-new Maxim will be utilised during the 2009/10
season, which is going to be coupled with a fresh 410ci
powerplant that he debuted late last season, and Bricknell
has plans of a successful season ahead.
“The
goal for the new season is to be a consistent top three
contender on any given night in Tasmania and I know
we are capable of that and proven that we can finish
on the podium on numerous occasions last season,” expressed
Bricknell. “Consistency is one area that needs to be
improved, as last season we had a number of engine complications
and that really hurt us with our consistency, so hopefully
all those type of dramas are behind us heading into
the new season with our new package that we have.”
In
terms of sponsors for the 2009/10 season Bricknell and
his team are currently speaking with a number of existing
and new sponsors. All of that will be announced closer
to the start of the new season.
