The
2009/10 season kicked off last Sunday night at Carrick
Speedway in Tasmania with the opening round of the Farmers
Union Sprintcar Series for Jamie Bricknell and it resulted
in a third place finish on the podium.
A podium
finish was a pleasing way to start the new season and
it is certainly a result that the Bricknell Motorsport
team can build on for the remainder of the 2009/10 season.
Bricknell
had started the feature race out of position four, after
he had finished his two heat races earlier in the night
with a fifth and a win, and from the drop of the green
slotted into third place and that was where he remained
for the entire 25 lap journey.

“Finishing
on the podium is just the start to the season that we
were looking for and this gives us added confidence
and builds plenty of momentum,” the 20-year-old expressed.
“We messed up in the feature race by making the wrong
right rear tyre choice. After about seven laps I knew
that I didn’t have anything for the drivers ahead of
me to challenge them due to the right rear tyre having
little drive for the track surface, so I just did my
best to maintain my position and stay where I was.”
With
the 09/10 season opener out of the way the Bricknell
Motorsport team now turns their focus to Hobart International
Speedway this Saturday night (November 7) for the second
round of the Farmers Union Sprintcar Series.
