In the
sport of Sprintcar racing it is very rare that you can
have a perfect night but on Saturday night during the
second round of the Farmers Union Sprintcar Series at
Hobart’s Mountain Dew Ice Raceway in Tasmania that was
exactly what Jamie Bricknell enjoyed.
From
the opening heat race right through to the fall of the
chequered flag in the feature race the TAS # 55 Montile
Tile Boutique supported Maxim driver was on a mission
and he won both of his heat races and then capped off
the night by scoring a convincing feature race victory.
“Those
type of nights are very rare, so you have to make the
most of it and really savour the moment,” expressed
Bricknell, who recorded his second ever Sprintcar feature
race victory. “We got through both of the heat races
with two strong wins and then we were most importantly
able to carry that form all the way through to the end
of the feature race. There was a bit of pressure heading
into the feature race, mainly from myself, as I didn’t
want to have my night spoiled by not backing it up in
the feature

After
finishing third in the opening round of the Farmers
Union Series the previous weekend at Carrick Speedway;
Bricknell and his team made a number of changes to the
setup of the TAS # 55 Maxim and it paid dividends.
“The
team decided to play with a few things in regards to
the setup for the weekend and it worked very well,”
the 20-year-old explained. “For too long we have been
sticking to a base setup and we wanted to try something
new with our Maxim car and PM Race Engines prepared
powerplant combination and it produced wonderful results
straight away.”
Bricknell’s
performance last Saturday night rewarded him with not
only his opening feature race victory of the 2009/10
season but also the lead in the overall Farmers Union
Series point standings.
This
Saturday night (November 14) Bricknell will be hoping
to continue his strong early season form when he travels
to Latrobe’s Bendigo Bank Arena for the third round
of the Farmers Union Series.
