Youngster
Jamie Bricknell at Carrick Speedway in Tasmania claimed
his second victory honours for the 09/10 season when
he took out the twin feature race format last Saturday
night (December 12).
This
latest feature race victory continues the impressive
start Bricknell has made to the 09/10 season and on
was what a very difficult and challenging Carrick Speedway
track he came out on top to finish second in the opening
25 lap feature race and he then won the second 25 lap
feature race. With a second and victory Bricknell took
out the twin feature race format overall winning honours.
Bricknell,
aboard his TAS # 55 Montile Tile Boutique supported
Maxim, qualified for the twin feature races as the equal
highest point scorer with three other drivers after
he finished his two heat races with a hard charging
fifth place (from position 11 in the field) in the opening
heat race and then an impressive victory in the second
heat race. All four highest points drew their starting
positions from a hat and Bricknell drew position four
and that was where he started the opening feature race
from.

After
a second place finish behind Shaun Dobson in the opening
feature race, the top 8 finishers had to get one of
their team members to draw their starting position for
the second feature race out of a hat. Bricknell’s mum,
Margy, proved to be his lucky charm by drawing pole
position for her son. Taking full advantage of his pole
position start in the second feature race Bricknell
jumped to the lead from the drop of the green and was
never challenged for the entire 25 lap distance.
“We
were quick all night and got the job done in the feature
races and you couldn’t ask for anything more than that,”
Bricknell expressed. “It was a tough track all night,
as you had to conserve your tyres in both of the feature
races or otherwise you were going to struggle. I tried
not to be too throttle happy during the feature races
and I played it safe with my tyres and it paid off and
that was the key to my victory on the night.”
Bricknell
is next going to be in action on Boxing Night (December
26) where he will run back at Carrick Speedway and that
is something the 20-year-old from Launceston is looking
forward to.
“There
is a big 25k to win event on at Carrick Speedway in
March next year and I want to do as many laps as possible
around there before the event in order to give me the
best possible chance at being a front running contender,”
concluded Bricknell.
