There
seems to be no stopping the impressive form of Jamie
Bricknell during the 09/10 Sprintcar season in Tasmania.
Bricknell’s latest victory came on Boxing Night (December
26) at Carrick Speedway when he defeated a strong field
of local contenders during the fourth round of the Farmers
Union Sprintcar Series.
This
Boxing Night victory was Bricknell’s third of the 09/10
season and his successive feature race victory at the
Carrick Speedway track and so far this season he hasn’t
finished a feature race outside the top five.
Bricknell’s
latest victory has not only extended his lead in the
Farmers Union Sprintcar Series but also the Tasmanian
Club Championship point standings and the key to his
Boxing Night success was being calculated in lapped
traffic.
“Jason
[Dawkins] and I were pretty much on the same pace in
the clear but lapped traffic was where the winner was
decided,” Bricknell, who took control of the race lead
on the fifth lap of 30 in the feature race, explained.
“I had to be careful in lapped traffic as there was
quite a bit of it and not make any mistakes. In lapped
traffic Jason was able to catch up to me but I kept
my cool and held on for the win.”

The
TAS # 55 Montile Tile Boutique supported Maxim driver
qualified for the feature race on the outside of the
front row alongside pole sitter and highest point scorer
Jason Dawkins after the 20-year-old from Launceston

the rear of the field and then in the second and final
heat race scored a strong victory after he had started
from pole position.
Bricknell
also picked up the third annual ‘Robin Best’ hard charger
award, which has been won by Jason Dawkins for the past
two seasons, for his solid form throughout the night
at Carrick Speedway.
The
next event for Bricknell is going to be on Saturday
night, January 2 - 2010 at Latrobe’s Bendigo Bank Arena
