Fifth Podium Result from Six Starts for Bricknell                                                    4-11-2010

The fifth round of the Farmers Union Sprintcar Series last Saturday night (January 2) at Latrobe’s Bendigo Bank Arena in Tasmania resulted in Jamie Bricknell recording his fifth feature race podium finish from six race meetings in the 09/10 season.

Bricknell’s latest podium result last Saturday night, a third place behind winner Tim Hutchins and second placed Ashley House, has once again strengthened his lead in the overall Farmers Union Series point standings.

After finishing his two heat races with a sixth and a second place Bricknell started the feature race from position five. Bricknell had to battle with Jason Redpath and Kurt Luttrell early on before he worked his way into third place. For the remainder of the 30-lap distance the 20-year-old from Launceston fought with Ashley House for second place and at the fall of the chequered flag he finished in third place after unsuccessfully attempting to move by House for second place.

“The track was a mixture of slick and hooky conditions and it made the racing quite interesting, as everyone was pretty much on the same pace,” explained the TAS # 55 Montile Tile Boutique supported Maxim driver. “To move from fifth to third is a good result, as it has continued my podium result run and also increased my lead in the Farmers Union Series. Consistency was one of the things I wanted to improve on this season and so far our worst feature race finish has been a fourth place, so I couldn’t be happier.”

Bricknell is this Saturday night (January 9) going to be part of the opening TAS VS USA Sprintcar Challenge at Hobart’s Mountain Dew Ice Raceway.
