A strong
result in this Friday night’s final round at Latrobe’s
Bendigo Bank Arena is going to be paramount if Jamie
Bricknell hopes to wrap up the Farmers Union Sprintcar
Series for the 09/10 season.
The
current leader of the Farmers Union Series had a disastrous
ending to last weekend’s double point’s penultimate
round at Carrick Speedway when he was involved in someone
else’s accident during the middle stages of the feature
race and resulted in a very costly non finish. As a
result of this non finish and Shaun Dobson’s second
place finish, it has narrowed the margin to only a handful
of points between the pair heading into the final round.
“This
non finish couldn’t have happened at a worse time, especially
with double points on offer for that round, but it now
sets the scene for what will be a thrilling final round
of the Farmers Union Series,” commented the TAS # 55
Montile Tile Boutique supported Maxim driver. “I was
running in fifth during the middle stages of the feature
race when two cars ahead of me got together and crashed
and I had to spin the car out to avoid becoming involved.
Moments after spinning to a stop I was collected by
two others cars following behind me and the impact from
them has caused a substantial amount of damage which
included cracking the chassis.”

In between
now and Friday night’s (April 2) Farmers Union Series
finale at Latrobe’s Bendigo Bank Arena, the Bricknell
Motorsport team will go over their car with a fine tooth
comb in readiness for the Farmers Union Series finale.
“With
a crash of that size we cannot leave anything to chance,
so we have the chassis getting repaired and we are going
to make sure we have checked and double checked everything,”
explained Bricknell, who finished last season’s Farmers
Union Series point standings in fourth place overall.
“It’s certainly not the way we wanted to head into the
final round of the Farmers Union Series but we are going
to be doing all we can to wrap up the title.”
